(North East, PA) On Wednesday evening, the Niagara County Community College Thunder Wolves traveled to Mercyhurst North East for a WNYAC match-up.
From the start of the game, the Saints proved to be too much as Megan McKinney scored in the first minute of play when she received a pass from Amanda Sonney on the back post and slipped a shot past NCCC goalkeeper. Moments later, Amanda Sonney would tally her first collegiate career goal when she took a volley and drove it past the goalkeeper to bring the score to 2-0 in the opening five minutes of play. The scoring continued as McKinney would find the back of the net two more times, while Haley Schwindt, Harley Boyd, Emily Griffith and Mikayla Cagnoli all adding a goal each making the half time score 8-0.
In second half action, the Saints possessed the ball and worked it around the NCCC team but no additional balls found the back of the net, making the final score 8-0.
With the win, the Saints move to 1-1-0 and are back in action on Thursday, 9/11 as they travel to Finger Lakes Community College.
