Five Women's Soccer Players Selected to All-Region Team

The 2014 Saints women's soccer team set numerous records this season including; most wins in a season, longest consecutive winning streak, most goals in a season, and now they have added most all-region selections to their list of accomplishments.

The Saints had five members of the squad receive all region recognition. Attackers Harley Boyd, Amanda Sonney and Megan McKinney all received the honor on the offensive side while Lexi Whisel and Maria Detar received it on the defensive side.

Boyd, a sophomore from Slippery Rock HS, led the team in points and goals this year with 13 goals and 6 assists for 32 total points.

Sonney, a freshman from Seneca HS, was next with 11 goals and 5 assists on the season with a total of 27 points.

McKinney, a freshman from Mercer HS, got opposing teams coaches attention early with her speed, which resulted in her having 11 goals and 4 assists for 26 points on the season.

Lexi Whisel, a freshman from Laurel HS, anchored a tough defense for the Saints. She was an aggressive and talented centerback this season.

Maria Detar, a freshman from Harborcreek HS, was vital in the back four playing both outside back and center back at times.

A special congratualtions goes out to the five players and the rest of the 2014 squad on an outstanding season.
