On Wednesday evening, the women's soccer team traveled to Rochester, PA to take on non-conference opponent Penn State Beaver. In first half action, the Saints held control of play and had numerous scoring opportunities. It wasn't until almost half way through the first half that the Saints got on the board when Emily Griffith received a pass from Jazmyn Szymczak and riffled a shot past the PSB keeper to make the score 1-0. Moments later, the Saints saw Amanda Sonney received a direct ball from Deja Dixon and Sonney made it count. Before the end of the half, the Saints saw a third player get her name in the books when Jaida Dixon received a ball from her sister Deja Dixon and slipped one past the keeper making it 3-0 going into half.
The second half, the Saints would try some new things, play people in different positions and train for certain things that would pay dividends in the future. This didn't stop them from scoring two more goals when Megan McKinney would receive a through ball from outside back Morgan York for the 4th goal of the game. It was fitting that the person who scored the first goal, would get the last when Emily Griffith received a pass from Jazmyn Szymczak once again and drilled a shot from 30 yards out, placing it right over the keepers hands. This would take the score to 5-0, which would be the final.
Both Kym Braine and Dahlaney Sargent posted the shut out in goal for the Saints. The Saints are now 2-1-0 on the season are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Lorain CC and Sunday when they travel to Point Park.
