On Saturday, the women's soccer team traveled to Lorain CC for a non-conference match-up. In first half action, the Saints had plenty of scoring opportunities but it wasn't until the 22nd minute when Amanda Sonney received a direct ball from outside back Maria Detar for the first goal of the game. Still in the first half, Megan McKinney would add a goal when she was serviced a ball from Deja Dixon for a break away finish. Amanda Sonney would get her second goal of the half when she buried a shot past Lorain CC keeper, Morgan York was credited with the assist. This would take the score to 3-0 going into halftime.
In the second half, the Saints tried some new things and played people at different positions. This allowed Lorain CC to get on the board twice, beating MNE keeper Kym Braine. However, the Saints held on for the win and gained some valuable experience doing so. With the win, the Saints move on to 3-1-0 and are back in action on Sunday when they travel to Pittsburgh to take one Point Park JV at Highmark Stadium.
