On Wednesday, the Saints traveled to Jamestown to take on the Jayhawks. In first half action, the Jayhawks came out enthusiastic and relentless and found themselves with many scoring opportunities. It was Kym Braine in net for the Saints that have to prove herself and keep the Jayhawks out of the net, and she did just that, making a break away save, and numerous other saves. The Saints had a couple chances but couldn't put anything together. The score at halftime was 0-0.
In the second half th Saints came out with a lot more energy, and played harder. This lead to the Saints outshooting JCC 13-5 in the second half. It was only 1 minute into the second half when Emily Griffith drilled a shot at the keeper, who made the save but gave up a rebound to on running Mikayla Cagnoli who took the rebound and buried into the back of the net for the 1-0 lead. The Saints would keep the pressure on, but couldnt find the second goal. The game would end 1-0 with Mikayla Cagnoli being credited with the game winner. Kym Braine had 7 saves for the Saints in goal, and recorded her 3rd shutout of the season.
With the win the Saints moved on to 5-1-0 on the season and are back in action today against Erie CC at 4:00 on the campus of Mercyhurst North East.
