With the smell of grapes in the air, parents and the community out and about for the North East Wine Festival, the Saints hosted the #4 team in the Country, the Monroe Tribunes.
In first half action, the Saints gave up a goal early on when the Tribunes struck a ball from the top of the 18 for a finish, giving MCC the early 1-0 lead. The Saints would hold their ground for the next 37 minutes. It wasn't until the final 4 minutes of play, when MCC would rattle off 2 goals within a minute and a half, taking the halftime score to 3-0.
The second half was similar to the first half, as MCC found an early goal making it 4-0. Then again 35 minutes of scoreless play, followed by a late MCC goal for the final score making it 5-0.
"Overall, I wasn't too disappointed in our efforts today. We played them for 70 consecutive minutes scoreless. Our girls accomplished what we were looking to do. We focused on specific players, and held them scoreless. If it wasn't for a career day for their center mid (Maddie Siclare, who had 4 goals), I think it would have been a lot closer," says Head Coach Jake Hordych
With the loss, the Saints dropped to 6-3-0 on the season and are off until they host Lorain Community College on Saturday, October 3rd
