On Saturday, the women's soccer team traveled to Monroe CC to take on the Tribunes in the Region III, Division I women's soccer championships. The Tribunes, currently ranked #4 in the country brought a 11-2 record to the game. The Saints, came into the game with a 9-3-1 overall record.
In the first half, the Saints looked to hold their own through strong defending and physical play, but it wouldn't be enough as MCC got on the board in the first 15 minutes of the game. They would add another 2 goals in the first half to take the halftime lead of 3-0.
The second half would be a smiliar story, as the Saints would fight hard, but just couldnt hold the Tribunes down as they would score another 3 goals in the second, to claim the Region title with a 6-0 win.
"This is the 4th time in 5 years we have played MCC in the region championships. I think this was our most hard fought game against them. They have won the region the past 18 years, they are ranked 4th in the country, they have only allowed 5 goals against this season. They are a very good team! I was happy to see our squad compete and and work to our highest potential. I give our players on the field a lot of credit," says head women's coach Jacob Hordych.
The Saints ended their season at 9-4-1. A complete season wrap up will come out later this week.
