On Saturday, the Saints hosted Niagara County Community College in a WNYAC women's soccer matchup. The Saints, wearing pink to help create awareness for Breast Cancer Research, defeated NCCC 3-1.
In the first half, the game seemed to be evenly matched, however the Saints saw a lot of opportunities but could not finish. It wasn't until the 30th minute when Taylor Zachar found Sami Pace who drove a shot passed the keeper for the first goal of the game. The combination of Zachar and Pace would link up two more times throughout the game. With Pace's first goal, the score was 1-0 and would hold through halftime.
In the second half, the Saints would come out strong. In the 53rd minute, Pace would take on a defender on the left side, slide the ball across the 6 yeard box to an open Taylor Zachar for the finish. Seven minutes later, Zachar would take on the right back, serve a flighted ball into the box to Sami Pace on the back post for the header finish, giving the Saints a 3-0 lead.
NCCC would get on the board in the final seven minutes taking the shutout away from Saints goalkeeper Jordan Turzak. The final score would be 3-1, Saints.
With the win, the Saints move to 3-5-0 on the season and are off until this weekend when they travel to Rochester, NY to take on Monroe Community College at noon.
