Mountford Takes Over Women's Soccer Program

Mercyhurst North East has announced that Matt Mountford will take over as the new women's soccer coach. Mountford takes over for Jake Hordych, who left Mercyhurst this past July. Dan Poe coached the women's team this past fall, and will now return to strictly coaching the men's team.

Mountford, a native of England, comes to Mercyhurst after a successful playing career and has been coaching in the Erie area in various roles since 2016.

Most recently, Mountford was an assistant coach at Cathedral Prep in the fall of 2018. Mountford also was an assistant coach at Mercyhurst Prep for the 2016-17 school year. In addition to coaching at the high school level, Mountford has local ties coaching with MSA Soccer and currently with the Erie Admirals program.

Mountford attended Runshaw College in Preston, England while playing professional soccer for the Kingston Football Club. Kingston won the CSL championship with Mountford scoring 14 goals and 9 assists in the clubs second professional season. While at Runshaw, he helped the soccer team to the English College Football Championship.

He will assume his new duties on January 2nd at Mercyhurst North East.
