Saints took on undefeated Jamestown CC Thursday night in Liguori Fieldhouse. The Saints looked flat coming out of gate as they had four miss serves which hurt them in the long run. JCC took an early set lead with a win in set one, 18-25. The Saints settled down into the second set with key hitting from Rachel Brenner and Erin Froehlich. The Saints rallied behind Rebecca Winkelman's serving and won set 2, 25-19. Set 3 was the thriller of the match as the Saints trailed early. The Saints recieved some power from the outside with Brenner's 6 kills alone in set 3. Back and forth, the match was exciting. With key serving again by Winkelman, followed up by 2 aces by Brenner, MNE took set 3, 26-24. In Set 4, Mercyhurst trailed in the beginning of the set but never gave up. With the crowd almost favoring JCC, since the colleges are 45 minutes apart. The Saints fought back but fell short in set 4, 22-25, forcing game 5. JCC took the lead early and never looked back. Timely hitting helped as JCC's front row took over and finished the match winning 11-15.
MNE's record is now 4-6 (WNYAC 1-1). The Saints will be on a the road for the next five games as they travel to Pitt Titusville Saturday with a 1pm start.
