Saints Win Big in the Second Half


NORTH EAST, PA- A packed Liguori fieldhouse on opening night for the Mercyhurst men's basketball as they took on Lakeland Community College Tuesday evening. Mercyhurst with a 1-1 record look to improve to 2-1 with a win over Lakeland 87-82.

In the beginning of the game both teams couldn't score in the first couple of minutes. Trading possession back and forth. Lakeland would strike first to take the lead 5-1 and remain in the lead till sophomore Jonathan Sula made a layup with 1:38 left in the game 80-79. The Saints capitalized on the Lakers turnovers and never looked back.

Freshmen Samad Bailey with 21 points in the 2nd half alone. Bailey would end with a game high of 30 points, Tyler Williams with 13 points, and Jonathan Sula with 11 points.

Mercyhurst is on the road for their next four games. They will travel to Pitt Titusville on November 12th for a 7pm contest.
