Men's Soccer Comes to an End

Soccer

The Mercyhurst North East University Men's soccer team traveled to Monroe Community College this past Saturday to take on the Tribunes in a season finale, Region 3, showoff. The Saints, who came into the match at 8-7-1, looked to improve their winning column and win the Region 3 championship; what would be a first in Mercyhurst North East Universities' history of the program. The game started off well with both teams battling for possession and getting a few chances.  With about 10 minutes left in the first half, however, the Saints would go down 1-0 after a great save from Saints sophomore goalkeeper #1 , Hector Corrales, wouldn't be enough to keep Monroe out of the net, as the Tribunes would jump on the rebound to take the lead.

The Second half started strong for the Saints as freshman #10 Daniel Binene and sophomore #13 Justin Fuller would both have shots on goal early on, but to no avail. The Tribunes would score the 2nd and final goal of the match in the 63rd minute off of a great headed goal and the game would finish 2-0. Immediately following the game, the all-region team for Region 3 was named with five Saints getting honored with selections. The players selected from the picture above are listed from left to right, #2 sophomore, Simoni Surwavuba, #10 freshman, Daniel Binene, #0, sophomore, Jakup Husejnovic, #1, sophomore Hector Corrales, and #13, sophomore, Justin Fuller.
