MONACA, PA-A very frustrating afternoon at the office for the Saints as they took on Penn State Beaver in their penultimate game of the season. The Saints had 23 shots on goal to the home sides 16 yet were left bewildered after losing the game.
It was a great match between the two sides and one that the Saints controlled most of the time creating chance after chance but ultimately were punished after failing to capitalize. Sophomore Hannah Piemme lead by captains example by scoring 2 goals either side of half time which saw GK Cierra Barber start the move for the second goal. The Saints hit the cross bar twice, hit the post twice, had a bunch of shots saved by the goalkeeper and had chances whistle last the post. It was ultimately one of those days for them. Freshman Krista Tabacchi caused problems all day long for the PSB defense but hit the bar, the post and forced the keeper into a fine diving save. The story of the season so far though for the Saints as they were punished off a long ball through the middle and a calamitous mix up between defender and GK resulted in the PSB forward pouncing to score into an open goal with
20 seconds left to fortuitously win the game.
The Lady Saints now have one game left at Monroe CC on November 2nd. Head Coach Matthew Mountford would like to extend a huge thank you to the traveling fans this season who have made trips everywhere we have been on the road including our trip to Nashville. On behalf of MNE staff and students, a huge thank you for the support!
