Kirtland, Ohio- Saints volleyball started off the morning against Lorain County Community College at Lakeland Community College. The Saints started off strong in the first set but fell short 21-25. The Saints struggled to get into rhythm as The Commodores took charge and claimed the match 3-0. The Saints offense never really got settled as the team total kills was 24 (Rachel Brenner with 9 kills). The defense was limited as the Saints worked hard to come back. Leading blocker of the match was Elizabeth Kubicar with 4 solos. Riley Sams scrambled with 12 digs for the Saints.
Game 2 vs Community College of Baltimore County Essex out of Maryland. Mercyhurst came out strong and took the match 3-0 (25-8, 25-15, 25-9). The offense was really aggressive as the match went on. Saints team had 29 kills and only 9 team hitting errors. Leading attackers were Erin Froehlich and Elizabeth Kubicar with 7 kills each. Hope Hasbrouck running as libero had 14 digs on the match.
The Saints are back in action Tuesday September 11th vs Monroe CC, in Rochester New York. This match will be the first Western New York Conference match up. Game time is set for 6pm.
