MONACA, PA- The Mercyhurst North East Saints volleyball team was back in action when they traveled to Monaca, Pennsylvania to compete against Community College of Beaver County and College of Southern Maryland in a tri-match. First match was against CCBC as the Saints swept the Titans, 3-0 (25-12, 25-5, 25-8).
The Saints had a great game behind the serving line with a season high of 16 aces. In set two, the Saints dominated the entire time as the scored showed. Hope Hasbrouck also had a season high with eight kills. Torilynne Nelson with 18 assists and Riley Sams picked up 12 digs for the Saints.
In game two the Saints took on College of Southern Maryland in the final match of the day. The Saints started off even with Hawks has they battled throughout the match. The Saint taking the match (25-21, 25-23, 20-25, 25-17). In the second set, the Saints battled to come from behind to take the set by two. In the third set, the Saints seemed that they were losing their momentum as the Hawks took set three. In the final set the Saints never looked back as they finished the day strong.
The Saints are now 8-6 and head back into conference play on Tuesday September 24th against NCCC and again on Thursday Sept 26th against GCC. Both games will start at 6 p.m. in the Liguori Fieldhouse.
