MONACA, PA- Mercyhurst North East claimed its first five set victory of the season with a 3-2 (15-25, 18-25, 25-23, 25-22, 15-10) win over PSU Beaver on Thursday evening.
The Saints got off to the rough start as the Beavers claimed sets one and two. The Saint started to work together in set three and won by two. With the excitement in the air on senior night for the Beavers the Saints kept their heads up and battled back by winning the match.
The Saints put up big numbers as they took down the Beavers on senior night. With a total of 49 kills, three Saints claimed double digits. Led by Destiny Goodnight, who had a double-double on the night with 14 kills with 16 digs, Alexis White 14 kills, and Erin Froehlich added 12 kills, respectively. Torilynne Nelson dished out 39 assists. The Saints added on the defense side had 79 digs, 30 of them came from libero Riley Sams.
Mercyhurst ended their regular season 12-7 on the year. Mercyhurst will be back Saturday October 26th as they host the Western New York Athletic Conference tournament at North East High School. Tournament will start at 11am.
